Today’s blog starts with a simple plea for you all to dig deep and sponsor us for the BHF cycle ride in just over a week.

To date, we have only raised £225, which to be frank is poor showing considering this is a team effort and therefore I beg for your support to aid this great cause and give us some incentive for the pain we will all suffer!

Last’s night plan to sink one or two Henley Golds with my counter part in Finance was scuppered by ‘The Rake’ taking it off their menu last week! Not great, as we both ended up sinking just a couple of standard Pilsner’s!

My landmark poser from yesterday was related to The number of steps you need to climb to reach the top of the Monument, which is 311.

Today’s poser is simply linked to ‘The Rake’s name and has no other connection.

What composer wrote the music to the opera ‘The Rake’s Progress’? Sorry for the lack of imagination today!

Today was an interesting day.

On a negative aspect, we had a major network service outage with our office in Mumbai affecting them for most of their working day. Not acceptable at all considering how difficult it is for this new venture to develop their business. Our priority is to fully understand what went wrong and provide an explanation!

On a better note, we had a real positive delivered early on today in a meeting we had with Avaya, our global voice system provider.

For some time, we have been looking at a product that extends the capability of our business phones to mobile handsets (corporate and personal), but it was constrained by models (only supported Apple devices) and global functionality.

At our session today, we were made aware of a product release that appears to fix the global capability, as well as now providing additional support for Androids!

Although the commercials now need to be ironed out, we seem to have a way forward.

There are now 72 days to the Olympics and I think it’s safe to say that I will be an armchair viewer. Partly because I am always trying to get 4 tickets and partly because I have no interest in any of the 2nd tier events!

Yesterday’s blog event was related to an Aussie legend called James Hawkins, who is famed for winning 3 golds at Rowing.

Today’s event has been competed by Ilke Wyludda who tragically had to have her leg amputated last year? Amazingly, even with this set back, she wanted to compete in this years Paralympics in a different event. Remarkable courage!

The highlight of the day has to be the Avaya (one-X) solution mentioned earlier, as this takes our consumerisation theme one step further!
