Well, I have to say there is a certain irony after the decision for certain water companies to enforce a hose pipe ban recently!

If this is not the worst summer on record yet, it cannot be long before we surely acquire this record, because since returning from my hols in Mexico in April, I cannot remember more than about a week to 10 days of dry weather!

Of course it will be the wrong kind of water, but it does not help matters when, Thames Water themselves, trying to fix a leak, actually release two million litres of water in to the underground system last week!

I guess the good news is that Thames Water now believe they might be able to lift the hosepipe ban according to this article.

Tonight the Euro 2012 tournament starts in earnest for us English fans. After all the recent disappointments in South Africa and Germany, can we really hope that this time will be any different? Bizarrely, I fancy us to beat the French tonight, hence I have predicted a 1-0 win in the prediction game at work.

I do hope that we play to our strengths, which considering we have no recognised strikers of quality, is to use the classic defensive formation employed by Chelsea of late, which basically is a 1-9-1 formation!

Tonight we get the opportunity to use the break out projector area in our new office at Bank to show the game. As you can see from the photo attached, it will certainly bring the game to life!

It’s certainly been quite a free flowing tournament so far with quite a few goals and some quality football. Of all the teams I’ve seen, you have to fancy the Germans (always a safe bet to get to the last 4) and Italy look like they could upset a few teams if they can return to their no nonsense defending (what a soft goal to concede against Spain). Were Croatia really that good or were the Irish that bad / unlucky? Only time will tell.

Not much to report on the technology front today. The LinkedIn fiasco has died down (hopefully you have all now changed your passwords / updated your app) while it was reported last week by Twitter that there are now over 400 millions tweets per day.

This is up from 340 million just a month ago and 250 million back in October! Now that is growth!
