So before my holiday to Florida becomes a distant memory, I thought it time to finish my series of blogs on this theme.
If you recall from my stage 3 blog, we arrived in Siesta Key (McDonalds in hand) amidst a tropical storm and awoke the next day to a typical sunny Florida day.
Must catch up on t’internet!
Siesta Key is a wonderful laid back strip of land of the west coast of Florida just below Tampa. Our town house / villa was centrally based so that we were a short walking distance from the village hub (a collection of restaurants and bars), as well as the white sandy award winning beach.
Beautiful eh!
Siesta Key is quite quaint and quirky and has a very sixties feel to it. Very different to Orlando. Our accommodation had a pool and was located directly by one of the inland waterways (sea water canals), which meant fishing for me.
Over the course of the week, we had a very relaxing time, as the batteries definitely needed recharging after the theme parks the week before.Fishing became a daily activity for me (and the others), as each catch was so exciting (the pinnacle being a Southern Sting Ray).
We took the opportunity to visit our beach, as well as other beaches a little bit further afield, eat in some excellent restaurants and even shop till we dropped. The highlights had to be the breakfast at Broken Eggs (what a pancake! Finishing a 16 egg ‘Belly Buster’ omelette on your own got you a free meal; not something that i tried), our sunset dinner at the Beach House restaurant on Anna Marie Island (interrupted by a major storm) and shopping at the local Westfield Mall (how cheap are clothes)!
Not a bad place to eat?
As you can hopefully tell from my blogs, we had a fantastic time in Florida, brought back loads of memories and could bore you with other memories for countless hours. That’s it for now though until our next break!
