04-Sep-12 Fit bug?

With the schools and colleges about to kick back in to their new terms, we decided to have one last family evening out last night to enjoy what I’m guessing will be one of our last warm evenings of summer.

The theme was still the Olympics, as we decided to do the Olympic mascot trails and in particular, the two that weave through the City of London, as well as Bankside and St. Paul’s.

It was a lovely evening and the climax was this view from Madison’s bar near the famous cathedral.

Last night, I had another call from one of my second cousins to do with the family tree. Although I was unable to speak to them direct, I hope to catch up with them this evening!

As if I don’t have enough going on in my life, a few weeks ago, I took up another Fitbug walking challenge. The challenge this time was to do over 500,000 steps in 8 weeks.

Hmm. Need to do more than that!

Although no charity aspect to this and no specific end goal, I decided to enrol just for the fun of it (sad I know)!

Four weeks in and my competitive edge has kicked in, as I am somewhere between 300th and 400th in the ranking out of about 450 and need to do over 13,000 steps (walking or running) to complete it.

As I typically do a lot less than that everyday, I now need to see if I can squeeze in an at least an hours walking or 30 minutes running per day! Good training for my half marathon!
