04-Jan-13 A dry Janathon?

In Blog, charity, Personal, Sports on January 4, 2013 at 11:52 am

As I write my blog today, it is nearly a year since my first one (6th Jan 2012) and I am approaching 7,000 reads, which I might actually pass before my anniversary.

It’s been an amazing last 12 months, but for now back to Janathon, as today was day 4, so I guess like my fellow Janathoners, the legs are now starting to groan a little, as well as a number of other bodily parts!

I’m pleased to say that my wife, Grainne, ventured out with me once more, and although I ran a little bit further (as per normal), she has now also completed all the first 4 days, so we are both feeling a tad fitter!

I decided today to push myself a bit further again, albeit today’s pace was a lot slower for the first couple of miles.

Yet again today, we ran in dry calm conditions for the 4th day running!

My stats according to MapMyRide:
Day 4 – 4.34km / 2.7miles
Janathon to date – 14km / 8.7 miles
Days running in dry conditions – 4/4!

Don’t forget, me and my colleagues at SThree are running this for orphaned children through SOS Children’s Villages. 6,000 children are orphaned by AIDS every day. That is a newly orphaned child every 14 seconds.

  1. I can see a clear link between your Janathon and the lack of rain so far – can you keep up a bit longer please… would all year be too much to ask?

    Well done though anyway!
